I’ll be straight up with you, food and nutrition is my job (a Registered Dietitian and nutritionist), hobbie and passion. Maybe that makes me biased but I love how food is central to life itself, as essential as water and air. You are what you eat, it’s true – physically, mentally, chemically, functionally…………
My interest lies in how food impacts our health and well being. Food is amazing and integral to so many strands of life. With heritage, geography, cultures and celebrating being together all playing their parts in our national diet we could be thriving.
The nutrition part though, is sometimes put aside. Manufactured trends and products that appeal to our senses and the reward centres in the brain, but make us poorly. Coupled with clever marketing and in your face advertising habits low in nutrition are embedded and become normal. Who and what are influencing what you eat, and do they have your best interests at heart?
We’re here to get the nutrition part higher up the checklist when making decisions about food choices. It’s not an all or nothing approach, it a tweak here and a swap there. Its about eating more food, not less, real tasty and nourishing food.
Over 30 years of raising a family I’ve had the same experience as you when it comes to being life being busy, stressful and impacting on food choices. And experiencing the changes to the food landscape from farming to supermarkets, access to affordability. But I’ve also had plenty of time to develop ways to get nutrition dense everyday choices into family food.
Thats the kind of thing Speaking of Food will share with you, making nutritious choices easier. Food and nutrition for health and wellbeing.
